Just two weeks after announcing a collaboration with Los Angeles-based AXS, TikTok continues its push into the ticketing space with a new partnership with CTS Eventim.

The new agreement with the Germany-based live entertainment giant further underscores TikTok’s ambitions to become a one-stop shop for music discovery, fan engagement, and now, ticket purchases.

While the AXS integration is now live in the US, UK, Sweden and Australia, the CTS Eventim integration will initially launch in Germany, allowing artists, specifically those with verified “Certified Artist” badges, to leverage TikTok’s massive user base for direct-to-fan ticketing. Other markets are expected to follow soon, TikTok said.

Through these integrations, fans can now discover and purchase concert tickets directly from an artist’s video post, eliminating the need to navigate external websites.

Creators can select CTS Eventim from the “Add Link” option while creating a video. They can then search for their desired event within the CTS Eventim platform and add a “Get Tickets” button directly to their video. This button directs viewers to the CTS Eventim website for ticketing purchases.

“We are very excited to launch this new partnership in Germany, where Eventim holds a strong position in the ticketing market… and we look forward to bringing this opportunity to artists all over the world in the near future.”

Michael Kümmerle, Global Music Partnership Development Lead, TikTok, said: “We are very excited to launch this new partnership in Germany, where Eventim holds a strong position in the ticketing market. We want to give artists the opportunity to promote their live dates and drive ticket sales through great partners like Eventim, and we look forward to bringing this opportunity to artists all over the world in the near future.”

Alexander Ruoff, COO, CTS Eventim, added: “As a partner to artists and concert promoters in Europe and globally, we’re always looking for ways to enrich our services to them. Artists gain incredible reach through the TikTok platform – so we’re delighted this new partnership will allow them to translate that reach into an effective new marketing channel.”

CTS Eventim is a heavyweight in the live entertainment industry, processing over 300 million tickets annually through its physical box offices, mobile apps, and online portals. Recognized as the world’s second-largest promoter according to Pollstar’s 2023 rankings, CTS Eventim also owns and operates several of Europe’s most prestigious venues.

With a robust performance across both its ticketing and live entertainment segments, the company generated EUR €2.359 billion ($2.53 billion) in revenue in 2023 alone.

Further solidifying its position in the industry, CTS Eventim recently emerged as the winning bidder for Paris-based Vivendi’s See Tickets and festivals division, a transaction expected to close in the coming months.

For TikTok, this ticketing expansion comes amid a looming deadline. The company faces the potential of being banned from the US market if its parent company, ByteDance, fails to sell the business. TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew has publicly vowed to fight this “unconstitutional” law in court, emphasizing the platform’s importance to its users’ voices.

TikTok is also embroiled in a high-profile licensing dispute with Universal Music Group, during which UMG’s recording and publishing catalogs have disappeared from the social media platform.Music Business Worldwide
