High-quality music streaming service Tidal – recently purchased by Jay Z’s investment group – will expand into 22 countries during the first quarter of 2015.
It will then be available in markets including Austria, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Switzerland, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, South Africa and Turkey.
Tidal is already available in the likes of Scandinavia, the UK, Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium. By the end of March, the service says it will be available in a total of 30 countries.
Parent company Aspiro has amassed more than 500,000 paying subscribers, with the majority signed up to Tidal’s sister service Wimp in Scandinavia.
Tidal CEO Andy Chen said: “We continue to accelerate our expansion, as demand for our product keeps rising. Besides directly from consumers, we are also seeing a very strong growth from new home audio partners. We now have 37 confirmed partners to offer Tidal across the broadest selection of home audio systems.”
“After just three months live with Tidal in the US, we are already seeing 18% of streams coming from home audio systems, increasing steadily month by month, as new integrations get up and running.
“Experiencing Tidal on high-quality home audio systems and headphones proves just how good high-quality music streaming can sound. 2015 will be the year a lot of people discover that.”Music Business Worldwide
