Tidal has launched ‘master-quality’ recordings on its streaming platform in partnership with technology firm MQA.
The format is available worldwide (where Tidal is available) for subscribers to its premium HiFi tier on desktop only and on select catalogue.
It can be accessed under a new ‘Master’ listing and joins Tidal’s high-fidelity sound offering.
The difference between high-fidelity and MQA is the former is a CD-quality lossless streaming, while the latter is hi-res audio that’s said to offer a superior sound quality to CD.
“TIDAL is committed to bringing members closer to their favourite musicians and offering MQA sound quality will allow subscribers to hear music just as it was recorded in the studio.”
