US independent music distributor Redeye has signed a UK and Ireland partnership with Proper Distribution covering physical goods in the UK and Ireland.
Effective from April 1, the deal will sees Proper distribute North American indie labels including Yep Roc Records (Dave Alvin, Aoife O’Donovan, Tony Joe White, Robyn Hitchcock, Josh Rouse), Barsuk Records (Death Cab for Cutie, Big Scary), Kill Rock Stars (Gossip, Deerhoof, The Decemberists), Signature Sounds (Lake Street Dive, Eilen Jewel), Northern Spy (Thurston Moore, Shilpa Ray), Don Giovanni Records (Screaming Females) and many others.
Spanning everything from indie rock and jazz to punk and American Roots music, in total the agreement extends to over 100 of Redeye’s label partners.
The first release under the deal will be US singer-songwriter Josh Rouse’s latest album, The Embers Of Time (pictured), out 6 April on Yep Roc Records.
Glenn Dicker, co-founder of Redeye said: “I met Malcom 20+ years ago on Nick Lowe’s tour bus and we’ve remained friends ever since.
“Sitting across the table from their team is like looking at a slightly fogged mirror image of ourselves. We ask the same questions, have the same responses and hold the same values to be important. Like us Proper are passionate about all kinds of music and are extremely transparent about their business. We are thrilled to officially work together.”
Drew Hill, Managing Director at Proper Music Distribution commented: “It’s fantastic to be working with Redeye across so many of its amazing label partners, and we’re looking forward to bringing their new releases to UK and Irish fans.”Music Business Worldwide
