Nigerian-born music streaming startup MePlaylist has struck distribution deals with FUGA and Symphonic, adding some 7 million songs to its catalog.
MePlaylist is a music streaming platform founded by Olakunle Oladehin in 2017.
The service is available across Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Zimbabwe, as well as the UK and North America.
The news follows last week’s announcement of the company’s high profile executive appointments of Michael Kay Kiladejo and Mathew Knowles, the father (and former manager) of artists Beyoncé and Solange Knowles.
Knowles also made an undisclosed investment in the company in March.
Partnering with FUGA brings 6 million songs to the MePlaylist catalog, while the company’s deal with Symphonic adds 1 million tracks.
Amsterdam-headquartered FUGA works with a wide range of labels such as Red One, and Better Noise, Riot Games, Tommy Boy Entertainment, Epitaph Records, Armada, Ultra Music, Curb Records, Planet Records and Mom+Pop.
Florida-based Symphonic works with a broad artist roster including Lil Flip, Korede Bello and Yemi Alade.
In addition to these two deals, MePlaylist states that it is on track to add “millions more tracks” to the service by the end of the year.
