The Association of independent Music (AIM), which represents the interests of over 800 independent music companies in the UK, has promoted Lara Baker to a Director position.
With a new title of Marketing and Events Director, Baker will contribute to the strategic direction of AIM while continuing to deliver its programme of events, including the annual AIM Independent Music Awards.
Previous winners at the ceremony have included Skepta, Enter Shikari, FKA Twigs, Wolf Alice, Wiley and London Grammar.
Alison Wenham, CEO of AIM said, “Lara has been with AIM for over a decade and in that time has played a major role in the evolution and success of our oganisation.
“What she has achieved as our Marketing and Events manager is nothing short of remarkable and the fact that we have such a breadth and depth of successful events each year is mainly down to her creativity, dedication and organisational skills.
“I’m sure she will bring all of these qualities to her new position as a Director of AIM alongside energy and clear, strategic thinking. This is a richly deserved recognition of Lara’s many years of hard work on behalf of the independent music community.”
Lara Baker said, “I feel honoured to have been appointed a Director of AIM.
“I am as passionate about promoting the fantastic work of this organization as when I first joined 12 years ago. The independent sector still faces many challenges moving forward and working alongside my fellow Directors I am fully committed to highlighting the achievements of our 800 + members while helping them fulfill their commercial potential and ensuring they are properly represented in the global marketplace.”
AIM has also promoted Matt Parnell to the position of Legal and Business Affairs Manager.
Parnell, who previously held the position of paralegal, will report to AIM’s Head of Legal and Commercial Affairs Charlie Phillips, who joined AIM from IFPI in 2011 to lead WIN/AIM’s legal and business affairs work.
Charlie Phillips said, “It is always gratifying when we can promote our in-house talent and Matt fully deserves his new position of Legal and Business Affairs Manager.
“Matt will manage a broad range of work, and we look forward to him taking on and developing AIM’s arrangements with key partners such as PPL and the BBC. He has been a great addition to the AIM team and I am sure he will flourish in this new role.”
