Global Entertainment, the content creation arm of Ashley Tabor’s Global, is getting into the festivals business. It has acquired a ‘significant strategic stake’ in UK promoter Broadwick Live.
Broadwick Live has created popular annual festivals including Snowbombing in Mayrhofen, Austria, which took place in April this year headlined by Rudimental (pictured) and Skrillex.
It also runs Festival No.6 in North Wales, which will be held in September this year and headlined by Belle & Sebastian and Grace Jones.
In addition, Broadwick runs branded music events such as the successful Bacardi Triangle.
The deal is Global Entertainment’s first UK acquisition.
“When Ashley tabor and I decided to build a live entertainment company, we always planned to expand into the festival space.”
Randy Phillips, Global Entertainment
Broadwick Live will continue to operate independently, working closely with Global Live, the live touring and festival promotion arm of Global Entertainment.
Tabor took the wraps off Global Entertainment in February. He named ex-AEG boss Randy Phillips as the CEO of the new LA and London-based company, which operates label, publishing, artist management, promotion, live concerts, events, touring, branding, sponsorships and marketing divisions.
Global Entertainment has swallowed Global Publishing into its ranks, which boasts a roster of writers including Ellie Goulding, Corinne Bailey Rae, LMFAO, The Script, The Vamps and The Vaccines.
“When Ashley Tabor and I decided to build a live entertainment company as part of Global Entertainment, we always planned to expand into the festival and event space as part of our strategy which included one-off events like the Rolling Stones at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and world tours for our proprietary content partners and third party superstar talent,” said Randy Phillips, CEO of Global Entertainment.
“The inventiveness, creativity, and business savvy of Broadwick Live are the perfect complement to the growth of Global Live’s worldwide business model.”
Sam Bush, director of Global Live, said: “Broadwick Live is an impressive company with a management team who share our ambitions. Gareth and the team at Broadwick Live have created a collection of festivals and branded events that have won all the major awards and are unlike anything else in the festival space. We will continue to support these events as well as developing new events in the UK and around the world.”
Gareth Cooper, CEO, Broadwick Live, commented: “The opportunity to partner with Global Live is huge.
“With their vision, expertise and investment, we will be able to co-create incredible new events and experiences, and extend our existing portfolio at home in the UK and internationally.”
