Beat marketplace BeatStars has paid out $325m to creators to date

Beat-buying and selling platform BeatStars has surpassed $325 million in total payouts to creators to date who license and sell beats and sounds via its platform.

The company’s latest payout update comes two years after it revealed that it had paid out $200 million to creators since its launch in 2009.

The platform, founded by CEO Abe Batshon, reports that 10 million creators use it in over 200 territories.

As previously reported by MBW, BeatStars has been the source of samples for hits like Old Town Road by Lil Nas X, and Whoopty by CJ.

BeatStars’ payout announcement was made alongside the news of the platform winning two BMI Pop Awards with producer Dan Darmawan for his production work that features on d4vd hits Romantic Homicide (3x platinum) and Here With Me (2x platinum).

Both tracks, Romantic Homicide and Here With Me (Interscope/Darkroom), have been streamed over 1 billion times on Spotify alone. Romantic Homicide was recorded using free music-making app BandLab.

Elsewhere, BeatStars notes that in the last 18 months, BeatStars and its publishing arm, BeatStars Publishing, have played “a pivotal role” in the success of several other hits, including 310babii’s Soak City, Bossman Dlow’s Get In With Me, and Yng Lvcas and Peso Pluma’s La Bebe – Remix.

The platform says that it provides global royalty collection and reporting for “thousands” of songwriters and composers.

Elsewhere, BeatStars points out that in 2024, its producer roster represented six Grammy nominations, including Best Global Music Album – Burna Boy, I Told Them (songs produced by MIKEWAVVS and EJ Fya).
