Singer/songwriter Aimee Mann has agreed to dismiss the lawsuit she filed against B2B digital music service provider MediaNet in July 2013.
MediaNet, a rival to 7Digital and Omnifone, provides an API to companies wishing to build their own digital music service. Its current clients include Beats Music, HMV, Songza and Tesco.
It works with a catalogue licensed from all the major labels and many independents, including more than 32 million tracks available to power streaming music apps, subscription services, download stores and more.
“MediaNet and I have resolved our differences, and I feel confident that they are making every effort to license their content correctly in a way that protects the rights of artists and songwriters. I’ve therefore agreed to put my music back on their service,” said the Grammy-Award winning Mann.
“Aimee Mann is one of the most acclaimed modern singer-songwriters, and we are glad to have resolved this issue and have her music available through MediaNet,” said Frank Johnson, CEO of MediaNet.
“Music rights are at the heart of our business, and we take the proper tracking and royalty payments to copyright holders very seriously.”
Launched in 2001, Medianet says it offers ‘a complete suite of master and mechanical rights administration services.
