The Corida Group, the live music arm of the Because Group and one of the largest independent promoters in France, has acquired a 50% stake in Pitchfork Paris promoter Super!
Super! is also the executive producer of Red Bull Music Festival and curates Villette Sonique Festival with a promotion roster that includes The xx, Bon Iver, Mumford & Sons, Jungle, Nicolas Jaar, Caribou and Four Tet.
The deal, agreed today (October 31), brings Pitchfork Paris, Biarritz en Ete and Cabourg Mon Amour into Corida Group’s festival portfolio, which includes We Love Green and Peacock Festival, bringing the total to five.
Together with the group’s majority stakes in promoters The Talent Boutique (Metronomy, Django Django, London Grammar, Daniel Avery) and PiPôle (Jorja Smith, LCD Sound System, Soulwax), the deal bring four promoters – Corida, Super!, The Talent Boutique and PiPôle – under the Corida Group umbrella.
Super! will continue to operate independently.
Super! Founder Julien Catala said: “I am delighted and proud to be joining the Corida and Because Groups. This new partnership will enable Super! to develop its booking activities, festival production and special events and continue to expand.
“In a globalised industry with multinational operators, being part of an independent group remains crucial to the Super! concept and the whole team.
“I am looking forward to working alongside Emmanuel, Olivier and their partners at the Corida Group in order to expand an independent, innovative and modern network, whilst cultivating a strong and unique artistic ambition.”
“I am particularly excited to have the opportunity to work with Julien and his team. He is an imaginative entrepreneur who has demonstrated over the past 12 years that you can build a real alternative in a very competitive market like France.”
Corida Group MD Olivier Darbois added: “Super! is a fantastic addition to our group. Julien will continue to operate Super! independently while we will offer him our expertise and strength to help him expand.
“Together, we can be a real alternative, and attract the most talented independent acts touring France and Europe with a world class level of service”.
Because Music Group founder Emmanuel de Buretel said: “I am particularly excited to have the opportunity to work with Julien and his team.
“He is an imaginative entrepreneur who has demonstrated over the past 12 years that you can build a real alternative in a very competitive market like France.
“He will be an important asset for Corida Group across artist development to festivals, and we look forward to building synergies across the Because umbrella.”
