It’s been a big week for Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group.
First the company announced a major deal with Canada’s Bell Media (including the launch of a new music TV show). Now, it’s hired respected former UMG exec Mike Rittberg as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Rittberg, former GM of Universal‘s Verve Music Group – and more recently of Bill Silva Management (Linkin Park) – will be based out of BMLG’s Nashville headquarters after starting his new role on Monday (February 13).
BMLG President/CEO/Founder Scott Borchetta said, “In this ever-changing environment, what once was is now no longer…Through constant analysis of the marketplace, we have hit on an incredible new marketing formula and Mike is the perfect executive to lead its operations.”

Before joining UMG/Verve in 2012, Rittberg was Senior Vice President of Promotion at Warner Music Group’s Warner Bros./Reprise.
He has worked with artists including Michael Bublé, Disturbed, Green Day, Eric Clapton, Josh Groban, Stevie Nicks, Neil Young, Michelle Branch, Iyaz, and My Chemical Romance.
“I’m grateful to Scott and Andrew for this amazing opportunity to join Big Machine,” said Rittberg.
“I’m excited to work with and for such a talented roster of artists. I look forward to joining the staff in Nashville next week!”Music Business Worldwide
