Billie Eilish is finalizing a $25 million documentary deal with Apple TV+.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, citing multiple sources, the R.J. Cutler-directed doc has already been filmed.
The film was produced in collaboration with the artist’s label Interscope and a source told THR that it cost between $1million-$2m to make.
Eilish was named Artist of the Year and headlined the inaugural Apple Music Awards yesterday (December 4) in California at the Steve Jobs Theater.
THR writes that the film was ‘shopped to multiple distributors’ and notes that its availability via Apple TV+ ‘signals a blurring of the lines’ between its streaming service Apple Music and recently-launched, $4.99-a-month Apple TV+ service (remember that an Apple services bundle could become a reality ‘as soon as 2020’).
Eilish released her record breaking debut LP When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, on March 29, with the album clocking up over 800,000 ‘pre-adds’ worldwide on Apple Music a week ahead of release.
On average, those playing Eilish’s album on Apple Music on its release day listened to more than 81% of the LP’s duration.
When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was the most-played album on Apple Music this year.
In addition, Eilish is Spotify‘s second-most-streamed artist of year and When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? was also the most-streamed album on the platform, which surpassed 6 billion streams.
