BMI has launched a free service to help its US-based songwriters and composers find healthcare coverage for themselves and their families.
Called BMI Health Connect, the service has been created in collaboration with Gallagher Alternative Health Solutions, part of global insurance brokerage Arthur J. Gallagher & Co.
It connects BMI‘s US affiliates with insurance advisors who provide one-on-one guidance on healthcare options, the company announced on Wednesday (September 16).
Through the service, BMI‘s music creators can compare options including Affordable Care Act (ACA) exchange plans, private off-exchange plans, and Medicare, as well as dental, vision, and other insurance offerings.
The service also covers plans eligible for cost-sharing subsidies, according to BMI.
The advisors are independent and have access to hundreds of plans, including some not available on state exchanges, BMI said.
“BMI Health Connect was created to help bring clarity to an often-complex process and connect our songwriters and composers with a trusted resource so they can spend less time navigating health coverage and more time doing what they do best.”

Affiliates and their immediate family members connect with Gallagher‘s licensed professionals by phone to review their needs, including household size, budget, existing coverage, and life stage.
Gallagher then works from a portfolio of hundreds of on- and off-exchange plans to present the options available and help affiliates enroll, the company said.
All personal information is handled by Gallagher Alternative Health Solutions in accordance with HIPAA and applicable privacy laws, according to BMI.
“Supporting our music creators is at the heart of everything we do at BMI,” said Mike O’Neill, CEO of BMI. “We know first-hand from our affiliates that finding the right healthcare coverage can be overwhelming and isn’t a one size-fits-all experience, especially for music creators and their families.
“BMI Health Connect was created to help bring clarity to an often-complex process and connect our songwriters and composers with a trusted resource so they can spend less time navigating health coverage and more time doing what they do best – creating the world’s best music.”
“Healthcare is one of the most consequential financial decisions a person makes and it’s often confusing on your own,” said Robby White, US Benefits Business Leader at Gallagher. “BMI is committed to connecting affiliate members with a real expert, at no cost to their songwriters and composers.
“Experts, who are trained to listen, ask the right questions and help each affiliate reach a decision that genuinely fits their life.”

The launch follows BMI‘s rollout of Spark, a program the performance rights organization introduced in March 2025 offering its affiliated creators career, educational, and wellbeing resources.
BMI, which represents the public performance rights in over 25 million musical works, was acquired by a New Mountain Capital-led group in a deal that closed in February 2024.
The company had announced a shift to a for-profit business model in 2022, having previously operated on a not-for-profit basis.
BMI Health Connect is available now, with affiliates encouraged to contact an advisor before open enrollment begins, according to the company.
Medicare open enrollment for 2027 coverage runs from October 15 to December 7, 2026, while ACA open enrollment on HealthCare.gov runs from November 1, 2026 to January 15, 2027 – with December 15 the deadline for coverage starting January 1. Several state-run marketplaces set their own deadlines.
Affiliates who need immediate coverage can enroll in short-term medical plans, or in other plans through a Qualifying Life Event, BMI said.Music Business Worldwide
