Warner Music Latina has appointed Carlos “Charly” Pérez as Senior Vice President for Communications and Public Relations.
An executive with extensive experience in the Mexican, Puerto Rican and US Latin music industries, Pérez will be based in Miami and report to Roberto Andrade Dirak, Managing Director, Warner Music Latina.
During his successful career, Pérez has worked with artists including Alejandro Fernandez, Ana Barbara, Angeles Azules, Banda El Recodo, Calibre 50, Gloria Trevi and Ivy Queen.
He has also worked with J. Balvin, Jenny Rivera, Juanes, Karol G, Los Temerarios, Los Tigres del Norte, Lucero, Luis Fonsi, Marcó Antonio Solis, María Félix, Paulina Rubio, Pepe Aguilar and Sebastian Yatra.
He joins Warner Music Latina from Universal Music Latino, where he served as International Vice President of Public Relations and Promotion for the parent label, Machete Music and Capitol Latin.
There, he worked closely with the regional Mexican labels Fonovisa and Disa, and managing the Puerto Rican and US markets.
In his new role, Pérez will “craft strategies to promote WM Latina’s artists and people across a wide range of different media outlets to a business and consumer audience”.
He will work closely with Ruben Abraham, SVP, Marketing and Artist Strategy, and Hector Ruben Rivera, SVP, Head of A&R, Latin Music, who both also report to Roberto Andrade Dirak. The three will work together to help develop Warner Music Latina’s business strategy.
Pérez has more than 26 years’ experience working in the music industry.
He started out working as an assistant to the International department at Mexican media company Televisa, where he later became a label manager.
He went on to join Univision Music Mexico as a Label Manager and then moved to Miami with that company to fulfill the role of Press and Television Coordinator.
In 2008, Univision Music was acquired by Universal Music Latin Entertainment, for whom Pérez worked as the National Publicity Director, before being promoted to International Vice President of Public Relations and Promotion in 2020.
