Chelsea Blythe has joined Def Jam Recordings as Senior Vice President.
Blythe, described as an “experienced and dynamic A&R executive with deep ties to the Los Angeles creative community” by the label, will oversee current and new artist projects, while discovering and signing new talent to Def Jam.
Based in Santa Monica, Blythe will report directly to Jeff Harleston, interim CEO of Def Jam Recordings since 2020.
She began her career in music with the A&R Department at Interscope Records in 2012, with the label developing artists such as Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Mike WiLL Made-it and Rae Sremmurd’s.
Blythe moved to Columbia Records in 2016, before leaving the Sony label last year.
Her appointment marks the label’s second West Coast-based hire this week following the news on Monday (June 7) that Snoop Dogg has joined the label as Executive Creative and Strategic Consultant.
