Tom ‘Grover’ Biery has been appointed Senior Vice President of Digital Marketing, Strategy and D2C at Concord Music Group.
He reports into Concord Music Group General Manager, Jim Selby.
In this position, Biery will oversee Concord’s global digital strategy and will manage streaming, marketing, social media, and D2C business initiatives for the group’s myriad of label imprints.
Biery began his music company career as a local promotion and marketing manager for Warner Bros. Records in 1990 – and spent more than 20 years at the major.
He ascended to Senior Vice President of Promotion in 1998 and then to General Manager/ EVP of the label in 2005.
At Warner Bros., Biery oversaw the marketing and career development of artists including The Black Keys, Madonna, Linkin Park, Muse, R.E.M., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jason Derulo and many more.
In addition to a number of marketing initiatives, Biery was also instrumental in the development of the bi-annual, very successful retail initiative, Record Store Day.
In 2011, Biery joined the music management firm The Collective and became a founding partner of Collective Sounds, the firm’s in-house record label.
In this role, he was instrumental in the career resurrection of reggae icon Jimmy Cliff, developed early social media influencers and You Tube stars Megan and Liz, and released records by Counting Crows, Alanis Morissette and other notable artists.
Biery established akaGROVER, LLC in 2014, a management, marketing, and consulting company that advised artists, executives, and various music companies. Its clients included Hip-Hop Pop duo Kalin and Myles, Artist Partners Group, Loma Vista Recordings, Kobalt Label Services and Republic Records.
