Fresh from inking an international distribution, publishing and marketing deal with INgrooves, US label SideOneDummy has agreed to be represented by Cooking Vinyl in Australia and New Zealand.
In little over two years since its launch, Cooking Vinyl Australia now represents labels such as Dine Alone, Razor & Tie, Resist and Thirty Tigers and has secured local deals for acts such as Kate Miller‐Heidke, Shakey Graves, You Me At Six, The Smashing Pumpkins, Lindi Ortega, Frank Iero and Modern Baseball to name a few.
Last month, CVA launched rock imprint Double Cross, with a roster including Gallows, Cancer Bats, Red City Radio and High Tension.
This year, SideOneDummy celebrates 20 years in the independent music business after being founded by Bill Armstrong.
Speaking of the latest signing, CVA co-‐director Stu Harvey said, “Working with good people is very important to our team, we have known and considered Joe, Bill and Thomas good friends for a long time. They have been consistently signing and breaking new bands for almost 20 years, The Gaslight Anthem, Flogging Molly, Title Fight all owe those guys their start.
“The label’s new A&R vision is clear and the new breed of bands such as Superheaven, PUP, Andrew Jackson Jihad and Jeff Rosenstock all have very bright futures ahead of them, it’s really exciting to have them onboard.”
SideOneDummy GM Thomas Dreux said: “We are very excited to be working with Stu and Leigh at Cooking Vinyl Australia, they are long time supporters of the label and the best representation we could ask for.. they will be looking after all SideOneDummy releases in Australia & New Zealand starting with the Superheaven album coming out first week of May. We are all looking forward to a long and successful relationship!”
The first release under the new agreement will be the new album from Superheaven – formerly known as Daylight – “Ours Is Chrome”, which hits stores May 8.Music Business Worldwide
