Downtown Music Holdings-owned royalty collection platform Songtrust has hired Darren Briggs as Global Head of Technology at Songtrust.
Reporting to Songtrust President, Molly Neuman, Briggs will oversee the ongoing expansion of its technology stack.
Briggs was previously President and Chief Product Officer of Songspace.
Briggs, who prior to Songspace was the Vice President of Data Strategy and Technology Innovation at BMI, as well as the Head of Global Systems Development & Technology at Sony/ATV, will lead the development of Songtrust’s royalty collection and rights management platform.
During his time as President and Chief Product Officer of Songspace, Briggs developed products for Sound Recording and Master Rights Data Management, Synch Licensing Request Tracking, and led the automation of music data and catalog delivery.
Working in tandem with the hiring of Briggs is Songtrust’s expansion of its global royalty collection network.
Songtrust reports to be on track to surpass milestones from its record year in 2019 and reports that it now collects royalties from more than 215 countries.
Songtrust saw record growth in 2019, administering the musical works of more than 300,000 songwriters, producers, and other rights holders and a catalog of more than 2,000,000 songs.
