Live Nation: Total tickets sold by Ticketmaster annually (2010-2023)

Live Nation Entertainment, which trades on the NYSE, issues quarterly and annual financial updates to investors.

Within its annual report for shareholders, the company reveals the estimated number of tickets sold each year via its Ticketmaster platforms.

This information forms the basis of the data visualization below, which counts millions of tickets per annum.

This total includes both primary and secondary ticket sales. It also includes fee-bearing and non-fee-bearing tickets.

As Live Nation explains in its annual report: “The fee-bearing tickets [counted] include primary and secondary tickets that are sold using our Ticketmaster systems or that we issue through affiliates. This metric includes primary tickets sold during the year regardless of event timing, except for our own events where our concert promoters control ticketing which are reported when the events occur. The non-fee-bearing tickets estimated above include primary tickets sold using our Ticketmaster systems, through season seat packages and our venue clients’ box offices, along with tickets sold on our “do it yourself” platform. These ticketing metrics are net of any refunds requested and any cancellations that occurred during the period and up to the time of reporting of these consolidated financial statements.”
