Drake goes wide on streaming with new, 25-track album, Scorpion

On the last occasion we got a full-length Drake album, 2016’s Views, it was 20 tracks long and released as a timed Apple exclusive.

This time, he’s upped the stakes yet again.

The Canadian superstar’s latest LP, Scorpion, is a whopping 25 tracks long, representing a full hour and 29 minutes of music.

It’s out now (June 29) on all major streaming services, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Amazon Music Unlimited and more.

Spotify obviously worked hard to ensure the megastar came to the table: the company has temporarily allowed Drake to ‘take over’ multiple playlists including Today’s Top Hits, Rap Caviar, Afternoon Acoustic, Morning Commute and more (see pic below).

MBW has a theory as to how this agreement may have come about.

You can expect streaming records to completely tumble here.

The current most-played album in Spotify history – in week-one terms – is Post Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys, which arrived in April.

That album was streamed 47,930,039 times in the US on its opening day.

It also smashed Spotify’s global opening 24-hour record, with a total of 78,744,748 streams on day one.

Beerbongs & Bentleys also broke Spotify’s first week streaming record both globally and in the US with 411,816,710 and 236,500,546 streams respectively.

Expect Drake, and his 25 new songs, to have something to say about this.
