Universal Music Group‘s Island Records has promoted Eric Wong to Chief Operating Officer (COO).
The executive is based in New York and will report to recently-appointed label President, Darcus Beese.
“Eric’s long and successful background in the recording industry make him truly deserving of this new post as COO of Island,” said Beese.
“He brings a world of experience to every endeavor and has nurtured strong relationships with our artists and their management teams. I’ve never worked with someone who has such passion, drive and care for artists.”

Wong steps up from his role as Executive Vice President/General Manager at Island, which has has held for four years.
He has played a key role in campaigns for the likes of Shawn Mendes, Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Fall Out Boy, Tove Lo, the Killers, Bon Jovi, Mike Posner, and more.
Wong was Executive Vice President, Marketing, at Island Def Jam Music Group (IDJ) before being promoted to EVP/GM in 2014.
Prior to Island Def Jam, he worked at Bad Boy Entertainment and Atlantic Records.
Wong’s former boss, ex-Island head David Massey, left Universal earlier this year to take over at Sony’s newly-relaunched Arista in the US.Music Business Worldwide
