Music Business Worldwide has hired Dave Roberts as Associate Publisher.
Roberts was the Publisher of Music Week from 2011, where he led the transformation of the UK trade title from an unprofitable entity into a widely-read success – while rejuvenating the annual Music Week Awards.
His duties at MBW will be split between editorial and business development.
London-based Roberts will shoulder specific responsibility for enhancing and adding to MBW’s stable of brand extensions, which already include the popular A&R Awards and freshly-launched Music Business Jobs platform, in addition to numerous sponsored feature series.
New projects are now being developed in tandem with Roberts and will be announced soon.
Roberts joins a team at Music Business Worldwide which includes Contributing Editor Rhian Jones and Publisher/Founder Tim Ingham.
“Dave is one of the smartest people I know working in the music business,” said Ingham. “Music Week was becoming moribund and irrelevant before he turned it around.
“Above and beyond Dave’s commercial acumen, he is a fantastic writer in a music industry media crying out for thoughtful journalism. His talents deserve a global audience, and I’m delighted MBW can provide one.”
Said Roberts: “I was publisher of Music Week when Tim left to set up Music Business Worldwide. God I was pissed off – doubly so when it turned out to be really good.
“Two years later I’m absolutely chuffed to be joining MBW and looking forward to writing for the site and working on some exciting new projects. Tim’s created something really special that is read by the most senior people across all sectors of the business all over the world – I’m almost entirely sure I won’t ruin it.”
