Gareth Smith has been hired as Sup Pop Publishing’s new Director of A&R.
Responsible for all day to day activities of Sub Pop’s Publishing roster, Smith will report directly to Tony Kiewel, VP of A&R.
Said Kiewel: ‘’It’s taken us a long time to find someone with not only a deep knowledge of this business but also with a high tolerance for hi jinx.
“Needless to say we’re very grateful to have found all that and more with Gareth Smith and we’re incredibly excited to see how Sub Pop Publishing will now grow with his insights and assistance.’’
Gareth Smith was previously the worldwide VP for Film & TV at Big Deal Music in Los Angeles – a position he left towards the end of last year.
Prior to Big Deal, Smith was VP of Synch and Marketing at BMG Chrysalis in London, where he was credited with helping to sign the Rolling Stones to their first publishing deal since the 1970s.
