As exclusively revealed by MBW in October 2018, former BBC Radio 1 hip-hop DJ Charlie Sloth is heading to Apple Music.
Today, (January 14) details of his new Beats 1 show were officially announced in an interview with Zane Lowe.
The Charlie Sloth Rap Show will air on Saturday, January 19 at 8pm.
The show is repeated on Sunday January 20 at 11am (3am LA/6am NY).
Sloth will also be getting a Charlie Sloth playlist on Apple Music and a Charlie Sloth Fire In The Booth (FITB) playlist.
As reported in October, Sloth owns the rights to the FITB franchise, and was licensing it back to the BBC.
That arrangement ended with his departure – and in episode one of the new show, Sloth will feature a FITB from Headie One, K-Trap, Blade Brown and Ambush Buzzworl.
“I think that [Beats 1] provide a platform that is future-proof and for me, I’ve always been about the artists and what service I can provide to the artists and also to the listener.”

Said Sloth, speaking to Zane Lowe: “I think that [Beats 1] provide a platform that is future-proof and for me, I’ve always been about the artists and what service I can provide to the artists and also to the listener.
“I felt the way people were consuming content was changing, it’s changed forever and I feel that Apple Music and Beats 1 provide a service that caters for the new consumption of content.
“And for me, I was like, I need to be where the future is.”
In June 2018 MBW reported that Apple Music had hired one of BBC radio’s key editorial music executives in the UK, Ryan Newman, who was previously Editor of 1Xtra.
