The Indian Music Industry (IMI), the organisation that represents the recorded music industry in India, has today (June 21) released its first-ever International Top 20 Singles Chart India, based on streaming data.
The charts, which are formulated using streaming figures of international singles, are compiled by Barcelona headquartered BMAT.
The new chart will be updated weekly on Monday evenings.
Every week, from Friday to Thursday, BMAT will aggregate and consolidate the data from Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.
Apple Music launched in India in June 2015, while Amazon Prime Music and Spotify launched in the market in February 2018 and February 2019, respectively.
The Top 20 chart will be reviewed by the IMI Charts committee comprised of representatives from record labels such as Universal Music Group, Sony Music Entertainment, Times Music, and Warner Music Group.
The Indian Music Industry (IMI) is the body that represents the interest of record labels on a pan-India basis.
IMI is an IFPI affiliate which is the global body that represents the recorded music industry worldwide.
All major music labels in India are part of this association.
