SVP of A&R and Marketing at Because Music, Jane Third, is stepping down from the UK-based independent label to join [PIAS] as Global Chief Creative Officer.
As part of her new role, which starts in October, Third will be given the opportunity to run her own label through [PIAS] division Co-op.
Third has spent ten years at Because and recently played an integral role in the breakthrough of Christine and the Queens.
Her standout signings include Swedish act Little Dragon and Mercury Music Prize-nominated bands Django Django and Metronomy.
Alongside founder and CEO of Because Music Group, Emmanuel de Buretel, Third has helped grow the UK company since its launch in 2005.
The duo collected the A&R Award for Best Independent Label in London last year.
“I am extremely sad to see Jane leave Because, I will miss her unique creativity and drive.”

Other acts Third has worked with include Denai Moore, while she’s also helmed campaigns in the UK for artists including Major Lazer and Justice.
A statement from Because reads: “We’re sorry to see Jane leave the company and want to thank her for her outstanding contribution at Because.
“She has shown recognised A&R and leadership skills during the 10 years running the Because Music UK imprint.”
De Buretel added: “I am extremely sad to see Jane leave Because, I will miss her unique creativity and drive.
“She has been instrumental in the success of Because in the UK and we sincerely wish her the best for the future.”
Third said: “It was a really difficult decision to make leaving here, I love everyone, I love the artists and the culture, but after 10 years it was time for a fresh challenge.
“I would like to sincerely thank Emmanuel de Buretel and [Because Music COO] Eric Bielsa for the opportunities they have given me, and for trusting me these past 10 years.
“It has been an incredible journey and I’m deeply proud of what we have achieved together.
“I would also like to thank all the artists that I have had the privilege of working with, whom have soundtracked my life and meant so much to me.”
