Jeremy Vuernick has been promoted to Executive Vice President of A&R for Universal-owned Capitol Music Group (CMG).
Vuernick reports to CMG Chief Operating Officer Michelle Jubelirer and President Ashley Newton.
In his elevated position, Vuernick will sign and develop artists for the company, as well as oversee recording projects for new and established CMG artists.
He will also continue in his current position as Head of A&R for the company’s Astralwerks label, where he has signed and developed a host of noteworthy artists and projects, including global superstar Halsey.
Vuernick is based in Hollywood, California in the company’s Capitol Records Tower.
Vuernick’s promotion comes after nearly six years as an A&R executive at CMG, having joined Astralwerks in 2013 and serving in various capacities at that label and Capitol Records before being promoted to Vice President of A&R in 2016.
In addition to signing and developing the aforementioned Halsey – who has achieved two Platinum albums and a host of global hits over the past several years, including the current Billboard Hot 100 No.1, Without Me – Vuernick inked a deal with Marshmello, which brought his global hit Happier featuring Bastille into the Astralwerks/CMG fold, as well as signing or overseeing artists such as Porter Robinson, Illenium, noted hip-hop producer TM88 (known for Lil Uzi Vert’s XO TOUR Llif3), Alison Wonderland and many more.
He also signed FISHER’s No.1 Dance single Losing It, which is nominated for a 2019 Grammy Award in the category of Best Dance Recording.
Prior to joining Astralwerks in 2013, Vuernick was a senior executive at the New York based independent label Ultra Music, where he served in A&R, marketing and sales capacities.
