We are looking for a highly self-motivated and proactive Copyright Registration Expert (f/m/d) to join the Global Registration Services team in Berlin.
What you’ll be doing
- Manage BMG’s centralized end-to-end musical works registration process with collecting societies, 3rd party sub publishing partners, and DSPs worldwide
- Analyze CWR data compliance issues and oversee implementation of data validation rules
- Oversee society return file processing and conduct in-depth analysis of registration data
- Define and roll out company-wide best practices for an optimized registration data flow
- Act as main point of contact for BMG affiliates and sub-publishers regarding work registration
- Implement direct registration workflows in non-BMG affiliated territories
- Identify and analyze registration issues, provide solutions to local BMG affiliates, and resolve registration issues directly with external partners worldwide
- Build and maintain operational relationships with collecting societies worldwide, take part in industry wide format initiatives, and directly address format requirements globally
- As Business Owner of BMG‘s registration applications, manage system enhancements, transitions from old to new formats or new version of existing formats, as well as the onboarding of new recipients
- Coordinate work documentation related API data exchanges (e.g. IPI, society AV APIs)
- Oversee regular registration audit reporting, and provide ad-hoc reporting upon request
What you bring
- In-depth expertise in the Common-Works-Registration standard format (CWR), and extensive experience in a CWR-related role at a music publisher, collecting society or dedicated service provider
- Fundamental knowledge of the musical work documentation processes in the music industry, especially at music publishers, Performance Rights
- Organizations (PROs) and Mechanical Rights Societies
- Solid understanding of the song registration processes for AV-repertoire (Rapid Cue, AVR, etc.)
- Experience with data exchange choreography, file types, and structures (JSON, XML, APIs, FTP etc.)
- Reliable team player, who fosters positive and productive collaboration
- Sharp analytical skills and high attention to detail
- Values accuracy while maintaining a pragmatic approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to tailor communication to specific target groups
- Fluent in English
It’s also a plus if you have:
- Familiarity with other industry standard formats (e.g. DDEX MWN, LoD, BWARM, DSR)
- Good overview of music publishing macro requirements
- Experience with querying databases, such as SQL, and the Google Cloud Platform
- German skills
