Sync & Licensing Manager, Involved Publishing

Overview
Involved Publishing is a progressive independent music publisher and home to some of the most cutting edge producers, writers and artists from around the world, including Above & Beyond, Dusky, Joe Brown, Seven Lions, CRi, Kyson, Qrion, Yotto, Marsh, Durante, Sophia Bel, Andrew Bayer, Yotto, Le Youth, Nicky Elisabeth amongst many others.
Based in Bermondsey, Involved Publishing is part of the Involved Group which includes the globally renowned and successful independent dance and electronic labels Anjunabeats, Anjunadeep and Reflections. Involved Group also distributes and provides label services for a number of labels including Ophelia (Seven Lions), This Never Happened (Lane 8) and 17 Steps (Dusky).
Our sync business is growing year-on-year, underlined by dozens of recent placements in film, TV, video gamse and ads, as well as exciting new media opportunities via our innovative one stop catalogue offering. We’re looking for an experienced person to spearhead and amplify this growth.
Reporting to Chief Operating Officer, and supporting Involved Productions labels, the position supports both of the aforementioned businesses, with a focus on developing strategy to generate and procure sync placements and revenue, develop and nurture their own and the business’s network of music supervisor and buyer relationships, licensing fulfilment, catalogue marketing and promotion, and team management. You will also manage a part-time sync assistant.
Sync & Licensing
- Oversee all stages of the licensing workflow and maintain all workflow databases
- Proactively procure new opportunities for sync placements and creative partnerships
- Negotiate terms and fees to uphold our songwriters and rightsholders values
- Forge and nurture relationships in the UK and Global sync industry
- Collaborate with the COO to develop and execute strategies to drive growth in sync placements and licensing revenue.
- Work closely with our administrator partner Kobalt to provide updates on catalogue priorities and clear overseas uses
- Maintain regular updates to our external network, sharing information on new signings, new releases, show and highlights
- Manage all incoming license requests, promptly and effectively
- Liaise with clients, and their teams, regarding ongoing requests and promotional priorities
- Work with the publishing Copyright and A&R team to identify and resolve any writer split discrepancies
- Develop and nurture relationships with external stakeholders, including our artist roster, managers, Kobalt sync team, and Familiar Music Group, fostering collaboration and maximising opportunities.
- Identify and secure new opportunities for our one-stop and pre-cleared library, expanding our reach and potential revenue streams.
- Produce monthly report, and contributed to quarterly and annual FY reports
- Actively attend gigs, engaging with sync clients and artists to build connections and stay informed about industry trends and emerging talent;
- Provide support to the COO in various ad hoc tasks as needed.
Ideal candidates will have
- A minimum of three years in sync and licensing, ideally within a music publisher or record label setting.
- An inherent passion for music is a must, with a particular appreciation for dance and electronic genres considered an advantage.
- Proven experience in negotiating licensing agreements or sales, with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Established relationships with music supervisors in the field.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive under pressure, work autonomously, and manage multiple assignments concurrently, prioritising effectively to meet short deadlines while maintaining accountability.
- Comfortable engaging in networking events, frequent travel, and representing the company at conferences and trade events.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical, data-focused, and organisational background, with a keen attention to detail.
- Highly proficient in various computer programs, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), Google Docs, and workflow management platforms such as Monday.
- Capable of handling and safeguarding highly confidential and sensitive information.
- A curious mindset and a willingness to learn about our businesses, as well as new technologies, software and emerging media that apply to sync.
- Demonstrated appetite for building and leading a team.
