Job Title: Event Lead (Commission-Based)
Location: Remote + Travel (U.S. & International)
Compensation:
- You’ll earn 10% of the profits of each event you lead.
- Our events typically generate $100,000 in gross sales, but profits can vary widely depending on how well costs are managed.
- Total compensation can range from $50,000 to $150,000+ per year, based on event success and no. of events managed.
About the Role
tonebase is expanding its reach into in-real-life (IRL) events for music learners, and we’re looking for dynamic and entrepreneurial Event Leads to drive this initiative forward. You’ll be working directly with the CEO and our content team to conceptualize, plan, execute, and oversee various IRL events.
This is a commission-based role with tremendous growth potential for individuals who are ready to embrace this new challenge head-on.

As an Event Lead, you will be responsible for everything from budgeting and marketing to on-the-ground logistics.
Your job is to make these events a success, which means not only planning meticulously but also adapting quickly when things don’t go according to plan.
You’ll be essential in ensuring our events are profitable, working with our vendors and internal teams to manage costs effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Event Planning & Execution: Lead all phases of event planning, from brainstorming concepts to on-site execution.
- Budget Management: Oversee the budgeting process to maximize event profits by managing vendor relationships and cutting unnecessary costs.
- Marketing Strategy: Collaborate with our marketing team to promote the event, driving ticket sales and sponsorship opportunities.
- Problem Solving on the Fly: When challenges arise, be ready to improvise and find solutions to keep the event running smoothly.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the CEO, content team, and other departments to ensure alignment on goals and vision.
- Travel: Attend and manage the events in person, which will involve domestic and international travel.
Preferred Experience
- Music Event Expertise: Proven background in planning, organizing, and executing successful music events, from festivals to masterclasses.
- Experienced Musician: While a previous concert career isn’t required, you must be an experienced musician with a deep understanding of the music world. Knowing who’s who in the field, and ideally having access to top artists, instructors, and educators, is essential.
- Understanding of Musicians: You need to understand and connect with our target audience of music learners and professionals to create engaging and interesting programming. You should be able to craft events that resonate with musicians because you are one yourself.

Compensation Structure
- This is not a salaried position. Instead, you will receive a 10% cut of the profits from each event. This percentage can increase when certain, agreed upon, profit thresholds are met.
- Our events average around $100,000 in gross sales, with profits that can vary based on how well costs are controlled. You’ll play a key role in maximizing profitability, which is a function of maximizing sales, controlling costs, and securing sponsorships.
- You’ll start off by managing 1-3 events and over time, and if mutually desired, you’ll be assigned more events over the year.
