Your role

The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing and spearheading a progressive marketing strategy for the label, to develop a compelling, content-led brand presence for our roster of legendary artists and amazing catalogue releases.

This is a lynchpin role which requires an energetic, forward thinking and creative individual who can coordinate multiple responsibilities and priorities in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to motivate and mobilise others.

The General Manager will be culturally switched-on with their finger on the pulse of new trends and emerging technologies, using insights & data to make strategic commercial and marketing decisions that leverage Rhino’s impressive catalogue for both existing and prospective fans. With catalogue gaining in importance both strategically and financially, this role has a seat at the senior management table and a remit to reimagine and reinvigorate the approach to catalogue growth and potential.


Here you’ll get to
  • Provide leadership for the UK team.
  • Ensure the successful delivery of all marketing functions, including digital performance and audience reach/engagement, content creation, artist brand management and e-commerce/D2C.
  • Oversee all marketing campaigns from a strategic level, ensuring all campaigns maintain the highest quality and best exposure to deliver commercial success and profitability.
  • Drive audience engagement and growth strategies internally and externally, to ensure they are at the heart of all campaign activity for both new and existing fan bases.
  • Work closely with SVP, Global Catalogue Management and the COO for WMUK on the day to day UK operations.
  • Liaise with the President, Global Catalogue & President, Arts Music and US and UK Content teams on artists/projects with global marketing needs.
  • Forge strong and effective relationships with partners throughout the WMG group including Brand Partnerships, Sync, Commercial, International and Global Marketing, Finance, Business Affairs, Production, Merchandising, D2C etc.
  • Plan and implement procedures, systems, finances and budgets to maximize operating efficiency and ensure commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Work with the team to create ongoing schedule of new, locally relevant projects and products to work alongside the central schedule of Global Priority projects.
  • Review performance data to monitor and measure productivity, goal progress and activity levels including analysis of campaigns, competitors and market trends.
  • Responsible for local and international label and artist manager relationships and implementing effective strategies for artist campaigns throughout the label.
  • Develop and manage relationships with external suppliers to ensure product / service objectives are met.
  • Responsible for marketing investment and evaluation, including all creative (video, content, budgeting and management) and PR expenditure.
  • Manage and motivate HODs (direct reports) including setting objectives and assisting with recruitment of wider team. Ensure diversity of the team.
  • Represent Rhino UK at all events, both internal and external, including international conferences & events.
  • Identify and engage with artists and managers with the aim of growing overall repertoire (be that via licences or acquisitions).
  • Explore areas of new business around our catalogue (ie TV projects, exhibitions, podcasts) both as way of raising awareness and consumption but also as means of creating ancillary revenue streams.

About you
  • Strong proven leadership skills, with experience of leading and motivating teams.
  • An excellent grasp of the UK and Global catalogue and a passion for our artists, repertoire and business.
  • Commercially-minded with experience of driving revenue growth, managing budgets and ensuring marketing ROI.
  • Excellent analytical skills with ability to use insights to inform decision making.
  • Ability to forge strong working relationships, both internally and externally.
  • Culturally astute with finger on pulse of popular culture, with a particular interest in music.
  • A true digital native with expert knowledge of tech, digital and social media (particularly as it relates to the music business) as well as Channel, Online and Direct Marketing.
