ABOUT THE COMPANY

whynow inhabits a unique position as a media brand, content producer and merchandise company. We own an engaged audience (35+ million monthly visits) across our magazines, websites and Youtube channels. We also produce documentaries, TV shows, podcasts and music videos for the likes of Sky, HBO, BBC and BMG.

whynow Music is our merchandise arm and we work with some of the biggest music artists in the world including Mick Jagger, Tina Turner and The Kinks to deliver bespoke merchandise campaigns from conception through to delivery.


JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for a senior ecommerce manager to help us build, maintain and support ecommerce for our music clients whilst also helping drive forward our media brand marketplace stores for Rock Sound, Metal Hammer, Classic Rock, Prog, Louder and Great Big Story.

We need someone who can manage multiple projects and handle a wide range of tasks and deadlines. Your communication and organisation skills will be excellent and you should be comfortable liaising with internal teams, artist teams, record labels, magazine editorial teams and other industry partners including warehouses and printers.

You should have a keen eye for detail and a desire to ensure that our ecommerce stores are performing at the highest standard, represent our brilliant roster and are an enjoyable shopping experience for music fans. Experience of the music industry and understanding of the media landscape would be preferable but not essential.

Our merchandise arm is one year old and we are continuing to grow and add artists to our roster, making it a fantastic time to join, help build a team, implement your own processes and put your ideas and experience to use.

We’re based in central London right by Oxford Circus and we work from the office Mon to Thurs.

LINE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY
  • Ecommerce Manager

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Shopify stores – Creation, daily maintenance and systematic checks of stores to ensure a brilliant customer and client experience. Must have a good understanding of Shopify markets functionality.
  • Fulfilment – Manage relationships with both our print-on-demand and fulfilment partners to ensure Shopify integrations, stock and postage rate cards are up-to-date.
  • Product set up – Responsible for the creation and maintenance of new products across our stores (SKUs, descriptions, product imagery, pricing, stock and descriptions etc.).
  • Stock management – Ensure product availability, liaising with our production team and international warehouse teams to make the product intake and dispatch of store orders seamless.
  • Customer Service – Manage customer team and queries via Gorgias.
  • Campaign roll-outs – Coordination and management of releases and new product launches. This includes working with labels and management to arrange album pre-orders.
  • Analysis & Reporting – Provide regular updates to the wider whynow team around store performance so we can use data to define new opportunities and increase sales.
  • Marketing – Work alongside our marketing team to help implement digital marketing strategies to drive new customer acquisition, sales growth and profitability as well contributing to the brand’s social media presence.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE
  • Experience of managing the end-to-end process of an ecommerce product launch from concept through to launch.
  • Up-to-date understanding of SEO strategy and best practice
  • Site UX best practice.
  • Excellent communication.

  • Ability to work to strict deadlines and manage your own workload effectively.
  • A proactive approach to new tasks and owning projects;
