Tragic news: Juice WRLD, one of the most successful US-based artists of the past two years, has reportedly died aged 21 after suffering a seizure in Chicago’s Midway airport.
TMZ reports that the Interscope-signed artist, real name Jarad Anthony Higgins, flew from California to Chicago Sunday morning (December 8).
Following the flight, witnesses said he suffered the seizure while walking through the airport.
Juice WRLD released his second studio album, Death Race for Love, via Grade A / Interscope in March. It hit No.1 on the Billboard 200.
He turned 21 last Monday.
According to Nielsen data, the rapper was the seventh biggest artist in the US in the first half of this year, in terms of consumption across all formats,
In terms of audio on-demand streams, he was the fifth biggest, racking up 1.91bn plays in the US across the Jan-June period.
Juice WRLD’s first big major label hit came with Lucid Dreams, which hit No.2 on the Billboard Hot 100 after being released by Interscope in May last year. The record was first released by Juice WRLD on SoundCloud in 2017.
