Live Nation Entertainment posted a 6% rise in revenue for 2014’s calendar year, up to $6.87bn.
The company recorded a net loss to shareholders of $90.8m, compared to its net loss to shareholders of $43.38m in 2013.
Overall, including $13.6m losses to non-controlling interests, LNE posted a full-year net loss of $104.5m for 2014. In 2013, its FY net loss stood at $36m.
In the fourth quarter of 2014, Live Nation posted an $80.5m normalised net loss, on revenues of $1.57bn.
The company held 15,948 events in North America in 2014, and 6,853 outside the territory – making up 22,801 events overall, down slightly on 2013’s 22,850 tally.
Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster, said in a statement: “We believe the live business will continue to have strong growth for years to come as connected fans drive demand, artists are motivated to tour, and mobile technology drives conversion.”
As well as growing revenue from concerts by 5% to $4.73bn, Live Nation saw impressive increases in its artist management business – re-branded as Maverick in 2014.
The adjusted operating income of its management division leapt 50% in 2014. Its stable of affiliated managers look after artists including U2, Madonna, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Alicia Keys.
“The benefit from aligning with our concert business is proving successful as these artists chose to tour with Live Nation for over 700 shows in 2014, more than double the number in 2012,” added the company.
Elsewhere, ticketing revenue grew 11% to $1.56 billion while income from Sponsorships and Advertising climbed 5% to $300.3m.Music Business Worldwide
