John Probyn, who has acted as COO of Live Nation UK since 2001, has left the music business.
The exec joined Live Nation following a three-year stint as Managing Director of Pro Productions Ltd.
He has played a key role in building successful Live Nation events such as Download, Wireless, Hard Rock Calling and London Live.
Probyn now joins a new family sports event which will take place for the first time at Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre (NEC) from June 24th – 26th 2016.
The NEC has taken a 25% stake in the ‘Sports Show’, which has been officially endorsed by the likes of Sport England, the RFU, England Netball, Table Tennis England and Badminton England.
Probyn said: “I am very excited to be joining the Sports Show, it’s a challenging project but I will be part of a world class team and the opportunity to deliver something that has never been done before was just too hard to turn down.
“My time at live nation has been fantastic, but my focus in now firmly on delivering the biggest sporting event the NEC has ever seen.”

The Sports Show has been created by Superskills founder Ed Rusling and rugby stars Will Greenwood and Austin Healey.

Ed Rusling, director of the Sports Show, commented: “The Sports Show is going to be a playground of fun for kids across the country, we will be taking over most of the NEC and we plan to pack every inch with as many different sports as we can.”
