Marathon Music Group will launch its third tech startup accelerator program, Marathon Artists LABs, in Q1 2020.
Marathon Artists LABs, which is run from Marathon Music Group’s HQ at Tileyard Studios in London, has collaborated with a wide range of music startups to accelerate business development objectives whilst building a pipeline of sales prospects within the music sector.
The first Marathon Artists Labs program launched in 2016 focused on “tools for artist managers”. Alumni went on to win Midem LAB awards and successfully raised series A funding.
The second program continued the creator-centric theme with a cohort focused on the topic of “music related content monetization in today’s digital landscape,” with a number of successful funding rounds resulting for those companies participating.
Additionally, former program alumni and content producers Mahogany Sessions & Dummy Mag have both launched joint-venture record labels with Marathon Music Group following participation in the program.

This new program will now explore “music discovery” through various focal points such as:
- B2B AI-applications for music scouting and A&R processes
- Automated services to better expose artists to industry professionals and influential audiences
- B2B & B2C Applications for “Listening” technology (metadata & recommendations engine)
- Micro-influencers matchmaking to enhance new audience penetration
Marathon will work with a selected cohort of six companies during Q1 & Q2 2020. Business development sessions will occur once a month in London for six months and will culminate with a public demo day event at the end of June 2020.
