Music streaming platform SoundCloud has announced the appointment of Marni Greenberg as its new Senior Vice President and Head of Communications, effective immediately.
The news was confirmed by CEO Eliah Seton on April 4. Greenberg will report to Seton in her new role.
Greenberg brings a wealth of experience in the music and tech industries to the role. In her previous position as Vice President of Communication at Sofar Sounds, she helped raise the company’s profile and connect artists with audiences through live music experiences.
She also previously served as Head of Music Communications at YouTube, where she led a team that drove corporate, product, consumer and artist communication campaigns to boost brand awareness.
Prior to YouTube, she was Head of Product and Partnership Communications at Spotify, where she helped launch the Discover Weekly playlist and drove partnerships with major brands like Uber and Starbucks. She also managed thought leadership initiatives for Spotify’s executive team.
“It has never been more important for SoundCloud to tell our story and Marni has the depth of PR experience required across music, technology and brand to bring our communications to life.”

At SoundCloud, Greenberg will oversee all aspects of the company’s global communications strategy. This includes external media relations, internal communications, brand marketing, social media, and executive communications for both Seton and the broader SoundCloud management team.
“The future of music is happening now and SoundCloud is perfectly positioned to drive what is next. It has never been more important for SoundCloud to tell our story and Marni has the depth of PR experience required across music, technology and brand to bring our communications to life,” Seton said.
“I’m thrilled to be working alongside Eliah and the SoundCloud team to amplify SoundCloud’s mission and impact on artists and music fans.”

“I am looking forward to working closely with her as we continue to tell our story and navigate the enormous opportunity in front of us.”
Greenberg also commented on her appointment, saying, “Music and creating meaningful connections between artists and audiences has long been a passion, and fostering these connections is now more important than ever.”
“SoundCloud’s mission to empower artists while giving music enthusiasts a place to discover what’s next in music deeply resonates with me. I’m thrilled to be working alongside Eliah and the SoundCloud team to amplify SoundCloud’s mission and impact on artists and music fans.”
The appointment came three months after SoundCloud hired former Kobalt executive Tom Sansone as its new CFO/COO.
In January, SoundCloud was reported to be gearing up for a sale later in 2024, with its owners potentially seeking a price-tag in excess of USD $1 billion. Sky News reported at the time that two of SoundCloud’s shareholders – Raine Group and Temasek Holdings – have started talks with investment banks regarding a “prospective auction of the company.”
