The Music Managers Forum in Canada has appointed Meg Symsyk as its new President. She replaces Rhyna Thompson, who is stepping down after two terms for ‘professional and personal reasons’.
Thompson will remain on the MMF Canada Board of Directors, and continues to run her management company Envision Management & Production, working with artists such as Kid Koala, Bell Orchestre, Esmerine, Colin Stetson and more.
Thopson commented “From my early days as a member of MMF Canada and throughout my tenure as MMF Canada President, I have felt passionate about the possibilities this organization holds.
“It has been an honour and privilege to work alongside an exceptional Board of Directors to guide MMF Canada to be where it is today. I am excited that Meg will be taking on the role of President and know that she will have a fresh energy that will inspire all us to keep striving to reach this organization’s potential.”
Symsyk clocked up over a decade of experience as a marketing executive at Universal Music Canada, working on key artist campaigns including Canadian artists Bryan Adams, Nelly Furtado and Rufus Wainwright and international acts Queens of the Stone Age, Beck, Sheryl Crow, Sting, No Doubt and Gwen Stefani.
For the last six years, she has been an integral part of SRO-ANTHEM, a full service management, label & publishing company, working with Rush and Brody Dalle. She has also spent the last three years on the MMF Board of Directors.
MMF Canada warmly welcomes Meg Symsyk to her new position effective immediately.Music Business Worldwide
