MelodyVR has appointed the Emmy, BAFTA and Rose D’Or nominated music executive Iain Funnell as SVP Creative, Content and Editorial.
Funnell will join MelodyVR effective immediately and will spearhead the company’s creative output and original content strategy, whilst working closely with Melody’s in-house production and post production teams.
He will report to Chief Executive Officer and Founder Anthony Matchett.
Funnell will work in partnership with both artists and record labels to produce VR content as well as developing a number of “new and exclusive formats”, which MelodyVR claims will make it “easier for artists to engage with VR as part of their campaigns”.
Funnell previously created and launched Globe Productions, Universal Music’s creative arm where he created and exec produced formats such as the series Launched at Red Bull Studios, The Passions of Girls Aloud as well as a commercial campaign for the World Wildlife Fund and an award-winning VR campaign for Years & Years & Samsung.
His feature length documentaries included the Emmy nominated Queen Day’s of Our Lives, Bafta nominated Professor Green’s Suicide & Me, Paul McCartney/Wings Band on the Run and Rose D’Or nominated entertainment special, Take That Come to Town for ITV1.
