Virtual reality music platform MelodyVR has inked a VR content creation and distribution agreement with Kobalt‘s recordings company AWAL.
The deal follows a number of previous partnerships MelodyVR has entered into since its inception spanning labels, publishers and venues.
The company teamed up with Liam Payne for its first live VR broadcast in December 2018, not long after the appointment of music exec Iain Funnell as SVP Creative, Content and Editorial in November 2018.
The agreement with AWAL means MelodyVR will have the right to distribute both live and pre-recorded VR content created with AWAL artists, which include Lauv, Tom Misch, The Wombats, The Kooks, deadmau5, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, and more.
MelodyVR has worked with hundreds of artists including Post Malone, The Chainsmokers, Niall Horan and Bebe Rexha to deliver virtual reality experiences.
“I’m pleased to enter into this agreement with AWAL and look forward to working with their fresh and exciting roster.”
Anthony Matchett, MelodyVR
