Music tech company Jaxsta has published its ‘Honors List’ of the world’s 100 most successful producers of 2022, with Grammy-nominated Tyler Johnson (Harry Styles, Sam Smith, Miley Cyrus) taking the No.1 spot.
The Australia-based, publicly listed company, which claims to be “the world’s largest database of official music credits”, bases its list on statistics provided by more than 340 official Data Partners, including record labels, publishers, distributors, industry associations and charts providers.
Jaxsta says that its database currently contains over 17 million producer credits.
Jaxsta also says that its Honors List identified the world’s 100 most successful producers for 2022 using a weighted algorithm that takes into account each producer’s chart performance, Spotify streams, Grammy wins and nominations, RIAA certifications, and number of producer credits during the year.
The Top 10 includes hit producers such as Tainy (ROSALÍA, Sean Paul, Dua Lipa), Blake Slatkin (SZA, BTS, Lizzo) and Kid Harpoon (Miley Cyrus, Harry Styles, Maggie Rogers).
Jaxsta notes that each of these producers were “in close range of the top position with high-profile artists who produce or co-produce their own material such as Taylor Swift and The Weeknd”.
No.1 on the list, Tyler Johnson, had “a stellar 2022”, says Jaxsta, after being nominated for three Grammy Awards including Album Of The Year for his production work on Harry’s House by Harry Styles, and Song Of The Year and Record Of The Year for As It Was off that same album.
Johnson is also credited on Miley Cyrus’ US No.1 hit Flowers (along with fellow Harry Styles collaborator, Kid Harpoon).
Additionally, Johnson produced records that reached Multi-Platinum sales in 2022 including Burning House by CAM (3x), Sign of the Times by Harry Styles (5x), Adore You by Harry Styles (5x), The Thrill Of It All by Sam Smith (2x) and Ripcord by Keith Urban (2x).
“Congratulations to Tyler. His incredible achievements, and the achievements of all producers in the Top 100 and beyond resulted in 2022 being an amazing year for recorded music.”
