Miley Cyrus has agreed an exclusive global deal with Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) to administer her hit album Bangerz.
Bangerz was released by RCA on October 8 in the US and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 270,000 copies sold in the week following its release.
The album also debuted at No. 1 in multiple countries worldwide, including the UK, Canada, Australia and Ireland.
“It’s a real honor for Universal Music Publishing to be involved globally with Miley who is, as a songwriter and artist, reinventing the art of pop music in a powerful way right before our eyes. Kudos as well to her business and managerial team of Bill Sobel and Larry Rudolph who have done an incredible job supporting Miley’s vision,” said Evan Lamberg, President, North America, UMPG.
As a result of its new deal with Cyrus, who co-wrote ten of the album’s 13 tracks, UMPG now has a publishing interest in the majority of the songs that appear on Bangerz.
The album has already launched two hit singles, including “We Can’t Stop,” which was co-written by Cyrus and UMPG songwriters Rock City, as well as “Wrecking Ball,” which was co-written by UMPG songwriter Stephan Moccio and became a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.
The album also features collaborations with UMPG songwriter Big Sean and Rondor Music International songwriter Future. Other UMPG songwriters who contributed to the album include Stacy Barthe (“Adore You”), Oren Yoel (“Adore You”), Sean Garrett (“SMS (Bangerz)”), and Rami Afuni (“FU”).Music Business Worldwide
