Mitsuru Koyama has been appointed Corporate Executive, Legal and Business Affairs, at Universal Music Japan.
He will be based in Tokyo and will report to Naoshi Fujikura, CEO, Universal Music Japan.
Koyama joins UMJ from Rakuten, a Japanese technology company specializing in eCommerce, Fintech, Mobile and cloud technology.
At Rakuten, Koyama was most recently the Head of Legal, Governance, Risk and Compliance and Privacy Officer, following nine years working as in-house counsel within the companies’ Tokyo and U.S. divisions.
Prior to joining Rakuten, Koyama spent four years at the Mitsui Law Firm in Tokyo.
