A second wave of speakers have been added to the UK’s Music Futures Conference, taking place on Thursday, November 12 at the Sage Gateshead.
Victoria Campoamor of Google Play and Chris Meehan, CEO of Sentric become the first panellists announced for ‘Music Publishing in the Digital Age’ while independent retailer Phil Barton of Sister Ray joins Kim Bayley (ERA), Martin Talbot (OCC), Mel Armstrong (HMV) and Lee Morrison (Believe Digital) to discuss the future of retail in all its formats.
There will also be a ‘Fireside Chat’ with Sony Music’s Vice President of Strategy Fred Bolza, who’ll give an in-depth look at where he feels the industry is headed over the next decade.
As previously announced, MBW will be hosting a panel at the one day event on whether A&R is becoming too reliant on data.
It will feature Alison Donald (Joint MD, Columbia), Jim Chancellor (MD Fiction / Caroline International) and Caroline Elleray (Head of A&R, Universal Music Publishing).
Set to join Simon Cole (CEO, 7 digital) and Joe Harland (Head of Visual Radio, BBC) on the Rebirth of Radio panel will be Karen Pearson of Folded Wing, pioneers in the use of radio, branded content and online broadcasting.
In addition, the conference’s ever popular ‘Insight Presentations’ also make a step up with independent playlist champion Sammy Andrews (Cooking Vinyl), music industry social media Guru, Darren Hemmings (Motive Unknown / The Daily Digest), ethical secondary ticketing pioneer, Richard Davies (Twickets) and the man who turned Mr Scruff into a high street brand, manager Gary McClarnan all delivering sessions.
Generator and Music Futures CEO Jim Mawdsley commented: “We have been overwhelmed with the response from all of the fantastic industry executives we have invited to present or take part in panels at Music Futures this year.
“There is a real appetite for discussion and debate around where we are all heading and this conference look set to lead the way. We have much more to announce but already the strength and quality of the event is certainly looking to be one that will live long in the memory.”Music Business Worldwide
