Niko Nordström has transformed Warner Music’s operation in Finland over the past decade – and now he’s been appointed President of Warner Music Australasia.
He will report to Stu Bergen, CEO, International and Global Commercial Services for Warner Music Group (WMG).
Nordström will take on his new role after serving as Vice President, Warner Music Nordics and Managing Director of Warner Music Finland.
He replaces Tony Harlow, who was recently named President of WEA Corp., WMG’s global artist and label services arm.
Nordström has served as Managing Director of Warner Music Finland since 2007. During his tenure, the company’s market share doubled.
In 2016, Warner Music Finland had the No. 1 album for 24 weeks of the year, the No. 1 single for 23 weeks of the year, and enjoyed an average weekly airplay share of 42%.
Stu Bergen commented: “For the past decade, Niko has led Warner Music Finland, where he has nurtured local artists and broken international stars, while doubling our market share in one of the world’s most advanced subscription markets.
“One of WMG’s true stars, Niko Will be bringing his exceptional management skills, artist development chops, and streaming knowledge to this important post.”

Niko Nordström added: “I am thrilled to be taking up this new role. Tony has transformed this company into an artist-centric, fan-focused operation and I look forward to building on his achievements as we take Warner Music Australasia and our artists to new heights.
“This is a very exciting time to be at WMG, and I’m very grateful to Stu for his confidence and support. Finally, I would like to thank Jonas Siljemark, my long-term workmate Asko Kallonen, all my colleagues and all our artists in the Nordics for the most amazing ride over the past ten years.”
Tony Harlow concluded: “Niko is uniquely qualified to take over the reins at Warner Music Australasia. He’s a tireless champion for artists and a proven leader. He joins a team that is the best in the business, and I know they are going to do great things together.”
Warner Music Finland’s success has been well recognized, with its artists collecting more than half of the all the Emma Awards — Finland’s equivalent of the Grammys — over the past two years, and the company being named Major Label of the Year for eight years in a row at the Music & Media Industry Awards.
