Noemí Planas has been promoted to General Manager at The Worldwide Independent Network (WIN), a global support body for the independent music sector.
Planas was previously WIN’s Network Development Director, and brings more than 20 years’ experience in various areas of the independent industry to the role.
Planas previously directed her own publishing company, managed the Spanish independent music trade association UFI, and served as a director on IMPALA‘s board for eight years.
IMPALA represents many of the world’s biggest independent record labels in Europe, and in March published a 10-point-plan for overhauling the streaming sector.
Additionally, Denis Simms has stepped into a new role as Membership and Projects Manager, and will implement WIN’s ongoing support programme, oversee market research and coordinate other global projects and initiatives.
Simms joined WIN in 2019, with a background in independent label and artist management.
The appointments of Planas and Simms is part of WIN’s “strategic restructure” to “drive efficiency and streamline its operations,” says the company.
WIN is currently celebrating its 15th anniversary, and has announced a series of events and initiatives that will coincide with the company’s WINCON conference on December 13.
This year’s conference will be held online. More information can be found at winformusic.org/wincon.
