Canada-born music rights management company ole has struck a music publishing co-venture deal with R&B/hip-hop super-producer Timbaland – expanding on an existing publishing agreement signed in 2012.
Timbaland, doing business as Blue Stone Music Publishing, will co-sign third party writers he sources to ole. Industry veteran Eric Spence, a key member of the Mosley Music Group, the record label founded by Timothy Mosley (aka Timbaland) in 2005, will head up the venture’s operations.
“ole looks forward to extending our relationship with Timbaland and developing exciting new Creative talent together,” said ole CEO Robert Ott. “We have a lot of confidence in Eric and look forward to a successful venture.”
“I’m very excited about this new venture with ole. I look forward to us finding exceptional talent,” remarks Timbaland, “There are so many gifted writers looking to make their mark and ole-Blue Stone will be home to the very best of them.”
“The ole-Blue Stone co-venture will be an amazing opportunity for writers to profit from fulfilling their creative potential,” adds Eric Spence.
Timbaland is credited as co-writer/producer behind three of the top-selling records of 2013: Justin Timberlake’s album The 20/20 Experience, with its two platinum singles, Mirrors and Suit & Tie.
His catalog contains some of the biggest hits in recent chart history including No.1 songs from Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Aaliyah and his own single, Give It To Me.
As a producer, he first received acclaim in the mid-’90s with full-credit work on albums by Ginuwine, Aaliyah and Missy Elliot, Timbaland has since worked with an A-list of artists including Madonna, Mariah Carey, Usher, Eminem, Ludacris, Kanye West, Snoop Dog, Limp Bizkit, No Doubt, The Black Eyed Peas and Alicia Keys, among many others.Music Business Worldwide
