HiNOTE, a personalized video platform, has announced that iconic hip-hop artists Wu-Tang Clan and De La Soul will use the service on their upcoming global tours.

The platform has also secured what it says is a “strategic placement” on Ticketmaster to let fans purchase personalized videos alongside their concert tickets.

Through HiNOTE, fans can send song requests to artists and within seven days, they get a video with a message and a verse and chorus of the requested song.

The feature is now available on the Ticketmaster checkout page. The platform says that artists have full control over opt-in options, the number of videos per show, and pricing.

Wu-Tang Clan is currently on a global tour, including a 20+ date run in the US and Canada this fall.

De La Soul will join Wu-Tang Clan to perform in the same tour.

Wu-Tang Clan is an influential and legendary hip-hop group from Staten Island, New York City. Formed in 1992, the group consists of RZA (Robert Diggs), GZA (Gary Grice), Method Man (Clifford Smith, Jr.), Raekwon (Corey Woods), Ghostface Killah (Dennis Coles), Inspectah Deck (Jason Hunter), U-God (Lamont Hawkins), Masta Killa (Jamel Irief), and Cappadonna (Darryl Hill).

“Since our launch, HiNOTE has been growing in popularity with both artists and fans,” said veteran music executive and HiNOTE founder Tyler Childs.

“for fans, HiNOTE gives them a custom video that they can share with their friends and family and on social media which is far more meaningful than a quick photo backstage.”

Added Childs: “But we feel it will be a real gamechanger for touring artists who may not have the bandwidth for meet-and-greets before the show. And for fans, HiNOTE gives them a custom video that they can share with their friends and family and on social media which is far more meaningful than a quick photo backstage.

“Having Ticketmaster make it a seamless part of the ticket buying experience makes it so easy for fans to take advantage of this cool new experience.”

In August 2020, RZA, founder member of the Wu-Tang Clan, sold Hipgnosis Songs Fund a 50% stake in the copyright interest of 814 songs – including a 50% stake of both the writer’s share and publisher’s share of the catalog.

A month later, Wu-Tang Clan, through Wu-Tang Productions, signed a global publishing administration agreement with Downtown Music Publishing that saw the latter representing the hip-hop group’s interest in songs from its back catalog of classic albums, as well as select works co-written or produced by individual Wu-Tang Clan members for solo releases, affiliates and other artists.

Meanwhile, Grammy-winning hip-hop trio De La Soul rolled out their back catalog on digital streaming services for the first time in March via a partnership with Reservoir Media and Reservoir-owned Chrysalis Records.

De La Soul’s members include Posdnuos (Kelvin Mercer), Trugoy (David Jude Jolicoeur), and Maseo (Vincent Lamont Mason Jr.). The trio was formed in Long Island, New York when they were discovered by producer Prince Paul.
