Peter Rosenthal has been hired for the newly created role of Executive Vice President (EVP), Global Head of Legal and Business Affairs at Warner Chappell Music (WCM).
WCM says that Rosenthal will set the strategic vision for the global legal department and help drive financial and business operations for the company.
Reporting to WCM Co-Chairs Guy Moot, CEO, and Carianne Marshall, COO, Rosenthal will also liaise with performing rights organizations and industry groups and advise on relevant legislation impacting music publishing.
Rosenthal joins Warner Chappell from Downtown Music Holdings, where he served as General Counsel and oversaw global legal and business affairs for the company.
In addition to group-wide corporate governance and finance, his remit for Downtown Music Publishing and Songtrust included digital licensing and strategy, corporate and catalog acquisitions, litigation, and policy.
WCM says that Rosenthal’s legal career spans more than 25 years of structuring, negotiating, and documenting a wide array of corporate, commercial, and intellectual property agreements and transactions.
Prior to joining Downtown in 2018, Rosenthal was a Partner at Ritholz Levy Fields LLP, a law firm specializing in entertainment, media and technology.
