Sony Music has launched Epic Records France and has hired Pauline Duarte to head up the new label, effective today (July 1).
The news was announced by Daniel Lieberberg, President Continental Europe and Africa, in an internal memo sent to Sony Music staff today, and obtained by MBW.
In the memo, Lieberberg describes Duarte as “one of the most prolific music executives in the market”.
Duarte will report to Emmanuel Perrot, who Lieberberg also announced has been promoted to General Manager RCA Label Group France.
Perrot’s expanded remit includes responsibility for a group of labels including RCA, Epic and SMART.
Duarte most recently served as Label Director for Def Jam Recordings France, working with some of the market’s top rap artists, such as Koba LaD, Alonzo and SCH.
Her arrival also marks her return to Sony, having started her career at Sony Music France and spending nine years at Columbia in Paris until 2012.
